Avshalom Farjun, the founder of Bustan Abraham ensemble, a Qanun player, the ancient 90-string ancestor of the piano. This plucked many-stringed instrument named “qanun” exists since ancient times. References to the qanun are met in works of many oriental poets.
Avi Agababa, one of Israel’s top percussionists, playing different percussion instruments. It happens rather often that percussionists have to play simultaneously the completely different instruments, which requires special skills and good coordination.
The musicians present a repertoire based mainly on improvisations alongside with new compositions by Avshalom and compositions performed in the past by Bustan Abraham.
Avshalom plays the qanun in a non-traditional manner exploring a wide range of musical influence from the East and the West.
