The VI International Festival of Oriental Art and Music

“RUMI FEST”

Riga,  26 – 29 September, 2019

OUR STORY

The place where the East meets the West … Not just geography, coordinates, but also some space in a human soul, where mind meets feelings, where thoughts and emotions abide in harmony, where inspiration conceives masterpieces, and hidden becomes a reality.

Art, music, poetry unite people in the West and in the East – people from different cultural backgrounds with amazing habits and traditions, different languages, diverse, contradictory, but supplementary. Art opens the beauty of the world, the depth of our feelings and emotions, helps us to discover the inner world, when experiencing the beauty we get aesthetic pleasure and the ability to see the surrounding world in a different dimension.

We are inviting you to share with us a wonderful event – International Festival of Oriental Art and Music “RUMI FEST” that is going to celebrate its sixth anniversary in the hospitable capital of Latvia – Riga on 26-28 September, 2019. The fourth day of the Festival will be held in Liepaja on 29 September.

In keeping in the tradition established in the previous years, this time the Festival also is going to have an extended format. Guests of the Festival will be able to get familiarized not just with the music of the East, but also with its art.

The Exhibition “Mūžīgā mīlestība” (“Eternal Love”) in the Riga Town Hall is opening the Festival. The following musical concerts are going to put a last accord in the Festival: Persian trio “Hamdam” and mystic dances by virtuoso Alper Akçay (Turkey), the Sema ceremony and Mevlevi music by Turkish musicians, who also will play Classical music of Ottoman Empire, as well as Georgian artists – Folk Group “Chveneburebi”, and the dancer Givi Kbilashvili with his ballet in Riga and Liepaja.
